Question: have you ever seen animals kill each other right in front of you?

Well, I’ve seen birds of prey like kestrels and barn owls take their prey. I’ve not seen any violent fights between animals of the same species where one gets killed. The most violent thing I’ve seen during my research was when one Kentish plover (a small, fluffy bird) pecked another one on the bum… I’d spent five hours sitting on top of an ant’s nest in a tiny bird-watching hide, on a really hot day, watching these birds do absolutely nothing except sleep and this was the only exciting event I saw! Sometimes science is slow 😉
